Karanganyar Cluster consists of three villages in Kintamani , which is Songan A, Songan B, and Belandingan that located on both outside and inside part of Batur Mountain Caldera. This Cluster has many attraction, started from the famous Dewi Danu Statue and Ancient Hulun Danu Songan Temple.

(+) The main attraction in this cluster is cultural dance, there is Baris Gede dance, Tumba Selem Dance, Tumba Barat Dance.

(+) This is the place where ancient temple of Hulun Danu Songan located, the temple was rebuilt up on the caldera ridge in 1926 after an eruption of Mount Batur destroyed this temple down in the crater.

(+) Be one with the nature, you can set your camp and stay the night in the wilderness beside the lake at N’jung Bali Camp.

(+) Locals also build a large statue of Dewi Danu near Hulun Danu Temple to praise her and also a virgin priestess is resident at the temple to represent the goddess, and she is served by 24 priests who are chosen as young boys and then keep the role for their lifetime. This is a strong example of just how importantly water and irrigation matters are regarded in traditional Balinese culuture.

(+) In Belandingan village, there is a unique ancient house builts by the authentic locals long year ago and still standing until now.

When To Travel

Ulun Danu Muncar Cluster sit on the rim of the huge Batur caldera about 1,500m above sea level. You are high in the mountains of Bali here, and the temperature is usually about 15 degrees cooler than down on the coast, and even more so at night. That, coupled with the often cloudy weather, makes a sweater or jacket advisable in the day time and vital after sunset.

With the area just beside the lake Batur, Ulun Danu Muncar Cluster is a popular destination to visit all year round. Generally the best times to travel are in the dry season between June to September. During this time hardly any rainfall is experienced, days are comfortable and nights are clear.

In the wet season heavy down pours occur most days and the odd alternate day experiencing sunny weather. monkey and squirrel trekking can be done year round, with the hike being more of a adventure in the rainy season. The drier months tend to be a popular time for tracking these magnificent animals.
