Desa Trunyan terletak di tepi Danau Batur atau di kaki sebelah barat Gunung Abang. Penduduk desa ini adalah keturunan asli Bali Aga. Dengan aspek kebudayaan yang unik, desa ini dapat dicapai dengan perahu dari desa Kedisan selama 30 menit. Nama dari Desa Trunyan berasal dari kata “Taru dan Menyan”, pohon berbau harum yang tumbuh di sekitar desa tersebut. Trunyan mempunyai tradisi pemakaman di mana jenazah dimakamkan di atas batu besar tepat di bawah pohon Taru yang memiliki cekungan 7 buah dengan wajah terbuka kemudian dipakaikan kain putih. Adat Desa Terunyan mengatur tata cara menguburkan mayat bagi warganya. Di desa ini ada tiga kuburan (sema) yang diperuntukan bagi tiga jenis kematian yang berbeda
Trunyan Village is located on the shores of Lake Batur or in the western skirt of Mount Abang. The inhabitants of this village are native to Bali Aga. With unique cultural aspects, this village can be reached by boat from Kedisan village for 30 minutes. The name of Trunyan Village comes from the words 'Taru and Menyan', a fragrant tree that grows around the village. Trunyan has a unique funeral tradition in which the body is buried on a large stone just below the Taru tree which has a basin of 7 pieces with an open face then put on a white cloth. Indigenous Village of Terunyan regulates the procedure for burying dead bodies for its citizens. In this village there are three graves (sema) intended for three different types of deaths

Beautiful place. You will be hassled about getting a guide on your way down there. Get the guide, the trek up is unmarked and difficult. A guide will make it a lot easier. Plus, the guide will tell you about the mountain and be very helpful.
